Day 309 : animal handedness

309animals

Sandy: Many animals have been studied to see if they have a preference for using one hand/foot/side. It was observed that every sulphur-crested cockatoos were left-handed. Although the juveniles eventually settle on their left hands, they first experiment using both hands. The majority of parrots are ambidextrous but the king parrot is right-handed.

Sandy’s year long journey – going from being a right-hander to left-hander, and Kelly’s parallel trip as a left-hander doing things as a right-hander.
