Day 277 : time zone

Sandy: Whoops! If I were in the Pacific Time Zone I would be late posting today. But since I landed in Maui earlier today, my time is 10:00 HST. I’ll be curious to see what time will be posted on my blog after I post. Greenwich, England has been the home of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) since 1884. GMT, also called Greenwich Meridian Time and Zulu Time, is the mean time that the earth takes to rotate from noon-to-noon. HST is 10 hours minus GMT. Atomic time, UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) has replaced GMT though it is GMT that is widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone. UTC is used by astronomers and others who need to state the time of an event unambiguously.

Sandy’s year long journey – going from being a right-hander to left-hander, and Kelly’s parallel trip as a left-hander doing things as a right-hander.
