Day 262 : V

262virgil

Sandy: Last night, 9.19.13, a treasured friend of 40 years, Virgil Nolan, died from a heart attack at age 68. He was the quintessential good guy – nice, good-natured, reliable, athletic, jovial, easy going, kind, gracious, fun – not to mention intelligent, handsome and left-handed. When you know someone that long, you have so many memories but they appear like a slide show in my mind, glimpses of things we did together – water ski, hike, pregnancy and births of our children (our oldest were born one week apart), birthday celebrations (ours and our children’s), family vacations, intimate conversations, jokes and laughs. It’s a lot but barely enough to sustain me. I will miss him.

Sandy’s year long journey – going from being a right-hander to left-hander, and Kelly’s parallel trip as a left-hander doing things as a right-hander.
