Hitches are knots used for fastening a rope to something else. The mooring hitch is easy to make and can be released quickly by tugging the end of the line. Convenient for temporarily hitching one’s horse or boat because one doesn’t need to get off to undo the knot – great get-a-way knot!
Sandy: This is the first time that I kept my paper in the same position rather than turning it when I drew curves or slanted lines of this knot. It was a little difficult to make the first two drawings exactly the same but they are pretty close in likeness. Interesting that because I’m drawing with my left hand, the horizontal bar slants down from left to right.
Sandy’s year long journey – going from being a right-hander to left-hander, and Kelly’s parallel trip as a left-hander doing things as a right-hander.
